Timeless Charm with Modern Attractions

Big-City Meets Quaint Country

Main Street with its old-fashioned street lights and brick buildings. White Oak Shopping Center with its major retailers. Acres of rolling green fields and lush woods.

Garner is truly the best of both worlds, offering small-town charm alongside all the conveniences of modern city life, just minutes from Downtown Raleigh and other Triangle communities.

Main Street

Garner's small-town heritage is displayed most prominently on its quintessential Main Street, which is lined with sidewalks, farmhouse-style properties, crape myrtles, and squat brick storefronts on one side across the street from the railroad tracks. You can even see the town's water tower — emblazoned with "Downtown Garner" in blue letters — from the street. In this historic district, you can find local businesses owned by your friends or neighbors, Music Off Main concert series, and Light Up Main holiday tree lighting. Think of it as the Mayberry of today.

Outdoor Recreation & Cozy Community

Lake Benson

Garner's largest and one of its most popular recreation areas is Lake Benson Park, anchored around a large lake that's perfect for fishing and boating in the peace and quiet of the town. Since it is so large, this park and the adjacent White Deer Park are often the location for annual town celebrations. Other parks in Garner offer athletic fields and courts, picnic areas and pavilions, miles of walking trails, and playgrounds.

Celebrate Community

As a modern-day Mayberry, Garner life is centered around its community, which is why the town hosts dozens of annual events throughout the year. Watch local bands and floats march down the streets during the Christmas parade, or listen to concerts downtown with your friends and neighbors. Head to the Garner Performing Arts Center to catch a show or performance, or celebrate the change of the seasons with the Spring Eggstravaganza at Lake Benson Park.

Garner is served by Wake County Public School System, the largest and most notable district in the state. WCPS has remained #1 in the nation for National Board Certified teachers for almost a decade.
